About Us
A major paradigm shift is evolving in the field of cosmetic surgery. People nowadays demand for a more natural cosmetic rejuvenation through minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Most of us are intolerant to any downtime whilst wanting to avert the risks of surgery. This is the momentum behind the formation of a new specialty - Aesthetic Medicine.
The evolution of aesthetic medicine is tied to numerous major technological breakthroughs which allow the delivery of significant cosmetic enhancements, all without the downtime and risks associated with surgery.
Large numbers of plastic surgeons are flocking to medical conferences to learn about the latest "non-surgical" rejuvenation techniques due to public demands. Recently, at a prestigious national plastic surgery conference, a prominent professor in plastic surgery was urging fellow plastic surgeons to move quickly into the arena of "non-surgical" rejuvenations and overlook the fact that they are “surgeons wanting to do surgery.” The irony is that these "surgically trained" plastic surgeons are actively learning and adopting various "non-surgical" procedures into their “surgical practice.” What they are hoping for is to use these non-surgical services to lure a patient in but ultimately re-directing these patients towards surgery.
Dr. Chiang has devoted his entire practice to the field of Aesthetic Medicine, and uses various non-surgical cosmetic techniques to help his patients gain a more youthful appearance. If surgical correction appears to be the appropriate solution for a patient’s concern, Dr. Chiang would candidly refer that patient to a reputable Cosmetic Surgeon for surgery.
Knowing when a patient should undergo “the knife” versus “non-surgical” treatment is an art and ultimately depends on the philosophy of each practice. The decision to select surgery versus non-surgical cosmetic enhancements can only be deduced after a candid and thorough discussion with each patient about the advantages and limitations of various procedures. Some of the issues to be considered are costs, tolerance to downtime, surgical risks, and the efficacy of the procedure.
When Dr. Chiang evaluates a patient for cosmetic rejuvenation, he uses the Four R's of aesthetics to formulate a treatment plan:
1 Relax (with Botox)
2 Restore (with various dermal fillers to restore the facial contours of youth)
3 Resurface (resolve complexion and wrinkle problems)
4 Re-drape (using various non-surgical suture-based facelift techniques)
